In fact, this is probably the biggest criticism of Farming Simulator 22: it just takes an enormous amount of time to get started. It’d be nice if there was an option to fast-forward to given seasons, because you will hit points where there’s not a lot you can do other than contract work, especially in the early exchanges when your funds are limited and you don’t have much land to play with. You can turn this feature off if you prefer the traditional gameplay style, and it definitely does slow down the overall pace of the experience.
